Details about our upcoming wedding in Wine Country...

Text

Hello everyone,

We can’t wait to see you all soon! As we are now just days away from our wedding weekend, we wanted to send out a final update with details on weather, a schedule for the weekend and other tips (along with our wedding hashtag: #lizandburt).

Weather

We’re keeping a close eye on forecasts, but the weather is looking quite unpredictable as of now. There is a chance of rain during the weekend, and nighttime temperatures in the area can drop to the 30s. Daytime highs will likely be from the high 50s to mid 60s. You should bring layers and be prepared for cooler weather. Also, the rehearsal dinner will be inside a wine cave that is kept in the 60s, so you should dress appropriately (or just drink a lot of wine).

Wedding weekend

We don’t have any formal events aside from the rehearsal dinner and wedding itself, but we are going to be in the area all day Saturday and are happy for people to join us for lunch and an afternoon wine tasting that day.

Saturday Lunch: We’ll be having lunch at a wine country institution, Gott’s Roadside burger stand in St. Helena, starting at 12:30. They have great fish tacos too!

Saturday afternoon wine tasting: We are heading to a wine tasting at one of our favorite area wineries, Sterling Vineyards, at around 2pm. After riding a tram up to their hilltop winery, you can take in the view of Napa Valley from the terrace. Sterling is located in Calistoga, only a couple of miles from town.

Saturday evening: The rehearsal dinner is 6p-10p at Clos Pegase Winery in Calistoga. The evening will start with wine tasting and tours of their sculpture collection, followed by a BBQ dinner inside the wine caves by candlelight. The dress code for the rehearsal dinner is casual (dresses or skirts with tights and closed shoes/boots would be fine for women, and men don’t need a tie).

Sunday, the wedding day: The ceremony will start at 4p at Solage Resort, followed by a reception. If weather permits, the ceremony will be held outside. The dress code for the wedding and reception is black tie optional. Be ready to dance: We have two great bands playing!

Other tips

Liz and I have put together some suggestions of restaurants, parks and other attractions around wine country and San Francisco for those of you new to the area. You can find the links on our website at http://lizandburt.com/tips. And you can of course ask us for any other advice!

Bay Bridge closure

The west-bound span of the Bay Bridge is scheduled to be closed for construction this weekend. This means you will be fine crossing it heading to wine country, or you can also take the Golden Gate Bridge. But keep in mind that you will have to return to San Francisco on the Golden Gate Bridge and there may be increased traffic due to the closure.

Wedding hashtag: #lizandburt

Yes, we do have a hashtag for the wedding! (If you don’t know what this means, ask your closest computer geek.) Please use #lizandburt throughout the weekend when posting to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other social networks. We’ll be pulling together all your updates, photos and video using Storify (Burt’s startup) to create an social media scrapbook of the weekend.

We wish you a safe journey and thank you for coming to share our celebration.

-Burt and Liz

For those of you Tweeting, Facebooking, Instgramming and doing whatever else on social media during the wedding weekend events, it would be great if you could mark your updates, photos and videos with the hashtag #lizandburt. Even if it’s just you hanging out in the area.

We’re going to be putting together a Storify story (of course) of everyone’s posts as a social media scrapbook of the wedding weekend, which we’ll eventually post back here. Putting the #lizandburt tag will make it much easier to track everything down and save it. We may even get it printed as a book.
